Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Arrives: AI Phone Era Fully Here, Ecosystem Moat Gets Deeper
Samsung showcases Galaxy S26 series and expanded Galaxy AI ecosystem at MWC 2026. From phones to wearables, Samsung is building an increasingly deep moat with "AI ecosystem.
Barcelona — March 3, Samsung showcased its expanded Galaxy AI ecosystem at MWC 2026. From the latest Galaxy S26 series to wearables, Samsung is connecting all devices with AI.
Not Just Phones, But an "AI Device Matrix"
At Samsung's booth, the most eye-catching wasn't a single product, but the entire "AI device matrix."
Galaxy S26 Ultra can call on Galaxy Watch health data to provide personalized exercise suggestions; Galaxy Buds3 can translate conversations in real-time; Galaxy Ring can monitor sleep and sync health reports with the phone.
"We're not just selling a phone, but an AI ecosystem," Samsung's mobile experience head said at the launch. "Every device is a node in the AI ecosystem."
S26 Series: Comprehensive AI Upgrades
Galaxy S26 series has several key AI upgrades:
AI real-time translation: Supports live simultaneous interpretation in 20 languages with under 500ms latency
AI photography enhancement: Uses generative AI to fill in missing parts of photos
AI power optimization: AI learns user habits, automatically adjusting performance and power consumption
AI assistant deep integration: Bixby evolves into a true AI assistant capable of executing complex tasks

"Traditional phones are 'tools,' AI phones are 'assistants,'" the executive said. "This is a paradigm shift."
Ecosystem Moat: Getting Deeper
Samsung's strategy isn't just selling hardware, but using AI to "lock" users in the entire ecosystem.
When you use Galaxy phone + Galaxy Watch + Galaxy Buds + Galaxy Ring, data flows seamlessly between all devices. This experience is difficult for Apple and Google to fully replicate.
"This is our moat," Samsung's CEO said at Investor Day. "Hardware can be imitated, but the ecosystem takes time to build."
Data shows Samsung's ecosystem user retention rate exceeds 90% — once in Samsung's ecosystem, it's hard for users to leave.
Challenge for Chinese Manufacturers
For Chinese phone manufacturers, Samsung's ecosystem strategy poses a serious challenge.
Huawei's HarmonyOS ecosystem is catching up, but ecosystem building takes time; Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, although hardware is competitive, software ecosystems remain fragmented.
"Hardware is the body, software is the soul," a phone industry analyst said. "Samsung's AI strategy takes 'soul' to the extreme."
Epilogue
At Samsung's booth, a visitor told media: "The main reason I use Samsung phones isn't hardware, but the ecosystem. Controlling my phone with my watch, hearing translations with earbuds, monitoring health with a ring — this 'integrated' experience is something other brands can't provide."
Perhaps this is Samsung's true intent: not just selling you a phone, but an AI lifestyle.
