Starlink Slashes Prices to $39/Month as Users Set to Hit 25 Million

SpaceX's satellite internet service Starlink has announced a significant price cut, with residential plans starting at $39 per month, while projecting over 25 million monthly active users by the end of 2026. This move is seen as a key strategy ahead of a potential IPO.

Price Drop to $39/Month

Starlink is rolling out an aggressively priced new offer. New customers can enjoy 100Mbps residential broadband for just $39/month for the first six months—a substantial reduction from previous standard pricing, making it far more competitive in the broadband market.

The company is also restructuring its data plans, migrating users from the $10/month data plan to $5/month standby mode, while introducing free low-speed satellite internet service.

Rapid User Growth

Starlink currently operates approximately 10,000 satellites in Earth orbit, making it the world's largest and most advanced satellite internet constellation. The company projects over 25 million monthly active users by year-end 2026.

This growth is driven by continued network expansion and service optimization. Starlink now provides high-speed, low-latency internet to over 150 countries, with coverage continuously expanding.

IPO Push

Industry analysts suggest this pricing strategy comes at a critical time as Starlink prepares for a potential IPO. By attracting more users and expanding market share, the company aims to showcase stronger growth metrics before going public.

Additionally, Starlink has partnered with chipmaker MediaTek to enhance mobile satellite internet performance, further strengthening its service competitiveness.
